Easter - holiday?
As an academic, having a holiday doesn't mean I stop working. On the contrary, the holiday is probably amongst the best times for working, as it means beeing freed of administrative tasks and other more trivial assignments, and instead being able to concentrate on being creative, writing, researching, thinking, debating, etc, etc.
When I go into a 'creative bubble', it feels like everything else is less important. You may compare it to starting to read a really good book, or watching a really good series on Your pc - all you want, is to continue, and everything else feels like a disturbance.
So, it's actually not a very ideal state to be in when you have a family around you and you actually would like to be around them, too.
This easter, my son has come back from military service after staying away for two months. That's a long time to miss Your son! I want to be here for him (in particular since he's here for such a short time, but of course his two sisters too) this week - so, I need to manage my eagerness to go back into my creative bubble all the time.
So, that's what I'll try to do this week. Balancing Family presence and creative Exploration.
How about you? What are some Things that make Your holiday more or less ideal?
Whether you are having a holiday focused on thinking, working or just hanging out With Family or friends, I hope it will be a good one!
Best regards, Irmelin
